Over a quarter of free Landmark schools delay opening

Statistics released under the Freedom of Information laws show that over a quarter of the landmark schools announced last year have delayed opening their doors. Constant delays have prompted the Department for Education (DfE) to overhaul how it awards opening dates for new projects. The government has now set up a private arm, LocatED, to take over purchasing new sites; this should allow sites to be purchased quicker and cheaper. The Department of Education have a pledge to open 500 new schools by 2020 and the one at NEV could be one of them.
